![]() If an Injustice 3 is announced, we'll be the first to report on it here at Shacknews. A potential event to look out for would be C2E2 2021, which is held in NetherRealm's backyard of Chicago, IL, and where the developer has revealed major game announcements in the past. As for where it would be revealed, that remains to be seen. A third installment is entirely possible, especially as DC has proven they're able to farm out plenty of story material in-between games. Of course, nothing is ever truly finished in the comic book world and Injustice would be no exception. Without spoiling what happens in Injustice 2, that story ended fairly conclusively. What would a third Injustice feature, in terms of story? It's hard to say. ![]() Add to that the fact that Mortal Kombat 11 is finished adding content and one would have to imagine that NetherRealm's next step is to jump into Injustice's third chapter. Reddit, as well as several media outlets, have been running with a supposed leaked roster. Injustice 3 was never addressed, which is interesting because rumors of its existence have been floating about for several months. One question was never addressed by Boon, that question being, "What is the future of the Injustice franchise?" Geoff Keighley, founder of The Game Awards, sat down with Mortal Kombat/Injustice creator Ed Boon and actor Justin Hartley to discuss all things Injustice. The totalitarian take on Superman has grown into a fully fleshed-out universe of its own, starting with NetherRealm's video games and continuing through several volumes of tie-in comics. The Injustice segment was comprised of a lengthy retrospective of the Elseworlds comic universe where Superman snapped following the Joker destroying Metropolis with a nuclear weapon and tricking him into murdering his pregnant wife, Lois Lane. With Injustice fresh on everybody's minds, Saturday seemed like the natural moment to reveal the series' next big title. An animated adaptation is set to release next week. It’s also rumored to be titled Injustice: Gods Will Fall, and if that’s the case, we dig it.The Injustice series had a strong presence at this year's DC FanDome and with good reason. ![]() If you do trust the leaks, the suspected roster includes the following: Aquaman, Batman, Beast Boy, Black Canary, Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Cheshire, Constantine, Cyborg, Deathstroke, Flash, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Harley Quinn, Joker, King Shark, Lex Luthor, Metallo, Mirror Master, Nekron, Poison Ivy, Ra’s al Ghul, Red Tornado, Robin, Supergirl, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Anti-Monitor. Can these be trusted? Ed Boon might be able to shine some light on that later this month. So what comes next? Plenty of leaks in regards to the studio’s next game, from a roster to a suspected 2022 release date. The company behind Injustice 3, NetherRealm Studios, has announced that it has wrapped production on Mortal Kombat 11, with the final DLC and Ultimate Edition now available. Will this be the year that Injustice 3 is finally announced? Given that it’s been over four years since the release of Injustice 2, it might not be a theory that’s too far-fetched. In 2021, one guest in particular immediately had fans of the Injustice series of fighting games speculating: Ed Boon, the creative director of Injustice 2 and Mortal Kombat 11, will be making an appearance. Tons of exciting things were announced, from Gotham Knights to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League–but fans noticed the absence of one particular game at the 2020 event. The event is quite new, with the first FanDome being held last year to massive fanfare. We’re only 11 days away from DC FanDome! DC’s free, global virtual fan event will feature a huge cast of special guests, lots of announcements on upcoming releases, and plenty of activities for DC comic fans on October 16, 2021.
